It is also important that the ITCS SOCIB gains input on the utility, robustness and value of the datasets provided and one mechanism for achieving this is to develop applications that use the SOCIB datasets to create higher level products, services or applications for end users and society. This follows similar ideas developed within the RCOOS System (USA) where a Forecast Analysis, Synthesis and Product Development (FASPD) centres14 are created to both use and provide a feedback mechanism on the available data streams, development of the tools and applications will be the responsibility of the SOS Division Manager.
