Two data assimilation schemes are currently tested: the Ensemble Kalman Filter (Evensen, 1993) and the ROMS 4DVAR (e.g., Moore et al., 2010). In both cases, as a first step, satellite data and altimetry will be assimilated. Then, the glider data collected through the SOCIB observations campaigns (Tintore et al., 2012, CIESM) is assimilated in order to correct the biases in the column water of the model (e.g. water masses).
