"Frontal jet plankton production in the Alboran Sea" by T. Oguz et al. published in Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans

Temel Oguz in collaboration with B. Mourre and J. Tintoré from SOCIB, recently published a new study entitlled “Upstream control of the frontal jet regulating plankton production in the Alboran Sea (Western Mediterranean)”. This article presents the use of a coupled physical-biological model, to document that a ~ 30 km wide meandering jet constitutes a major source of biological enrichment in the Alboran Sea (Western Mediterranean) even in the absence of wind forcing and tidal dynamics.

This article is a contribution to the Medclic program between “la Caixa” Foundation and SOCIB.
