The main goal of the Puig des Galfí Weather Station is to provide the six most essential weather parameters (wind speed, wind direction, air temperature, humidity, barometric pressure and rainfall) in near real-time for continuous monitoring the local meteorological condition in the area.

The weather station, together with the met-ocean buoy located in the Ibiza Channel, inside the High Frequency radar (HFR) coverage area, and a live real-time webcam, which provides a visual impression of sea conditions and the HFR antenna, are used for real time HFR system performance monitoring.

Additionally, an AIS (Automatic Identification System) antenna is also installed to provide real-time information on the identification, position, course and speed of ships. The data is available in one of the most popular online service for vessel tracking, like marinetraffic.
