Benjamín Casas
Graduated in Marine Sciences in 1995 at
University of Cadiz (UCA). I started my professional career in the Department of
Physical Oceanography at the UCA. Shortly after I got a scholarship at the Department of
Physics in the University of the Balearic
Islands (UIB) to do work related with data management in the Physical Oceanography
Group. I worked there until 2004 when I got a position as Oceanographic Instrumentation
Technician at IMEDEA (CSIC).
Since December 2021 I am responsible for the technological area at SOCIB. My mission will
be to lead the team of technicians, organize their activities and act as a link with the rest
of the facilities. I will also be responsible for the operation of the infrastructures that
allow data collection such as field stations, workshops and laboratories. Regarding the
infrastructures, a very relevant point is that I will be involved in the evolution of the
construction of the new building.
My personal hobbies are closely related to DIY and home automation. I sporadically
practice paddle… but the one made in Spain, not the one with the board and the paddle ;-)
WatchPi es el servicio de vigilancia de recepción de datos del equipo ETD de SOCIB. Se comprueba tanto la correcta periodicidad de la recepción de datos desde estaciones remotas, así como el correcto valor de sus variables de estado (voltaje de las baterías, temperatura interna, posición, etc...)
