SOCIB ISSC meeting in 2020 contributes to shaping the infrastructure future

The Balearic Islands Coastal Observing and Forecasting System’s (SOCIB) International Scientific Steering Committee (ISSC) members met virtually on 10–11 December 2020, to revise the 2017-2020 activities and provide guidance in shaping the infrastructure’s research and operational activities.

During two days of intense debate and inspiring presentations (see agenda below), the Committee members reviewed and discussed the progress achieved in the implementation of SOCIB Strategic Plan 2017-2020, including the scientific, technological, open access and society-driven main achievements. The meeting was accompanied by fruitful debates and constructive remarks on future key actions and vivid interactions regarding international priorities, among others. The ISCC members gave constructive and relevant advice and thus the meeting was a great success and an important step in shaping the infrastructure's future Strategic Plan (2021-2024).

The ISSC comprises 10 leading international researchers in marine science to advise the Director of the SOCIB, Joaquín Tintoré, and all SOCIB team with regards to the strategic objectives concerning operational oceanography, marine science, and technology issues.
