The Balearic Islands Coastal Ocean Observing and Forecasting System (ICTS SOCIB) joins the International Day of Women and Girls in Science once again, a global initiative promoted by the UN and UNESCO to highlight the role of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and promote equal opportunities in the scientific field.

Under the theme "Dismantling beliefs and showcasing female talent in marine sciences", ICTS SOCIB provides various resources and testimonials that reflect the progress and challenges of gender equality in research. A dedicated webpage for February 11 presents key data on the presence of women in science, interviews with SOCIB researchers and technicians, and educational activities, such as the Kahoot game "Women in Oceanography: Yesterday and todar" or the infographic on the role of women in oceanography.

Additionally, SOCIB participates in talks and workshops in educational centres, inspiring scientific vocations and bringing oceanography closer to new generations.

This initiative reinforces ICTS SOCIB’s commitment to a more inclusive and diverse science.
