Key Activities and Projects
The ICTS SOCIB carries out various initiatives to reach all audiences, especially the educational community: exhibitions, contests, lecture series, competitions, workshops, guided tours, and citizen science projects.
The outreach initiatives of the ICTS SOCIB incorporate gender perspective, equality, and social inclusion, integrating actions aimed at audiences with diverse abilities. They also include the historical and artistic dimensions and the local and international perspectives.
Educational and Outreach Resources
Through educational resources in a multitude of formats, the ICTS SOCIB reveals the vastness, beauty, complexity, and mystery of the ocean. These resources, explain how oceanography and observation technologies help to monitor and take the pulse of the Mediterranean, and encourage scientific vocations, bringing the work in oceanography closer to younger people.
The ocean, as an educational and inspiring resource, is the protagonist of infographics, videos, podcasts, teaching units, multimedia applications, and thematic websites, among other formats that are part of our Collection of Outreach Resources.
Ocean Literacy
The UN defines ocean literacy as knowing and understanding the influence that the ocean has on us and the influence that society exerts on the ocean and its health. With this same purpose, SOCIB encourages everyone to adopt more responsible behavior towards the ocean.
