Metocean data in open access and near real-time
The ICTS SOCIB offers open access to historical and real-time metocean data with quality control. It also ensures their long-term preservation. These data are provided by observation facilities and platforms (oceanographic buoys, surface drift buoys, profilers, gliders, high-frequency radars, etc.), as well as by the forecasting system (oceanic and wave).
These data become key information to understand the state of the ocean and its variability (from small to large scales), facilitate the prediction of climate scenarios, establish early warning mechanisms for extreme events, or implement coastal adaptation plans. In short, metocean data are essential to support decision-making and the management of marine and coastal resources based on scientific evidence.
