Economic Conjuncture Bulletin of the Balearic Islands, prepared by the Council of Economy and Competitiveness, is an instrument available to economic and social agents, an important tool in making appropriate decisions according to the current framework. This is a work of analysis, published quarterly, on the main macro indicators of the economic situation, together with forecasts of the future evolution of these indicators.
Indicators of the pilot project “Implementation of a ICZM indicators system in Menorca” are the result of research that aims to develop a tool to advance towards a truly sustainable coastal zone, based on science and addressing the needs of society. This research was conducted under the principle of sustainability, which incorporates not only an environmental dimension, but also the socio-economic dimensions of governance. In the Bulletin, different indicators were used for areas of land and sea protected by statutory regulation; fishing, the resident population, the number of moorings and the quality of the beaches, which favorable conclusions were obtained about the conservation of protected areas and the quality of bathing areas.
