SOCIB at the 3rd Perseus General Assembly & Scientific Workshop
SOCIB, IMEDEA (CSIC-UIB) and ICMAN (CSIC) researchers, attended the 3rd Perseus General Assembly Meeting & Scientific Workshop, held in Marrakesh (Morocco), during 1-4 December, 2014. The main topics in which SOCIB participated are related to the WP3 - "New Observing Systems" and WP6 "Science to policy". The following list includes the most relevant topics discussed:
- New Observing Systems WP3 advances in 2014 (Joaquín Tintoré)
- Gliders and Ocean Variability (Emma Heslop)
- ALBOREX 2014 Multi-platform Experiment: meso and sub-mesoscale variability in Eastern Alborán Sea in May 2014 (Ananda Pascual)
- Science to Policy interactions, WP6 (David March)
- Jellyfish New Tracking Tool (Laura Prieto)
- Data Management in Perseus (leaded by Ifremer), specific WP3 workshop
- Future Strategies for Observing Systems in the Southern European Seas, specific WP3 workshop
PERSEUS is an EU FP7 project dedicated to linking ocean science to policy makers in the Southern European Seas. For SOCIB, being involved in a project that is connecting the existing and new observing systems, the gaps and needs in our European ocean observation network, to the needs of marine policy developers across Europe is indeed very relevant. The advances in WP3 observing systems upgrades and expansion were well received, including the development of a multi platform data submission handbook.
