SOCIB engineers (M. Torner and S. Cusí) together with Simón Ruiz from IMEDEA (CSIC-UIB) actively participated in the GROOM project meeting at the Oceanography Center of Cyprus, 16-17 of January 2013. Project members met and discussed progress and plans related to this European initiative seeking the design of a new European Research Infrastructure that uses underwater gliders for collecting oceanographic data. SOCIB/IMEDEA teams are actively involved in this key project leading (IMEDEA) some of its work packages, and collaborating in others and organizing similar meetings to push towards the definition of the scientific, technological and legal framework of this European glider capacity.

The meeting passed within the facilities of the New Campus of the University of Cyprus (Anglatzia, Nicosia). Participants exposed their progress and current activities as well as discussing about how to efficiently achieve the deliverables associated to the GROOM project
