SOCIB hosted the Ocean Best Practices System working group team meeting, 23 - 25 January 2018,  at SOCIB's ParcBit Offices, Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

The focus of the meeting was planning for 2018 - 2019, taking into account recommendations suggested from the Evolving and Sustaining Ocean Best Practices Workshop, held in November 2017, Paris. Guided by a broad community of ocean observers, the Ocean Best Practices System is building upon the IOC/IODE (oceanbestpractices.net) to link together and disseminate ocean best practice documents, for the benefit of both contributors and users of the system. The discussions covered the core elements of the Ocean Best Practice System; evolving the IOC/IODE supported repository system, the advanced search technology featuring a semantic based search engine, community building and the long-term strategy for sustainability.

The meeting was supported by ODIP, AtlantOS, IODE, JCOMM OCG, IEEE, AWI and SOCIB.
