Sóller Buoy

Oceanographic Buoy

The Sóller Buoy of ICTS SOCIB is an autonomous measurement platform that is part of the Fixed Station Network. It connects to the central server for real-time data access. Its primary purpose is to collect a time series of metocean data near the northwest coast of Mallorca (close to the port of Sóller), providing monitoring services for a variety of oceanic and meteorological variables. The buoy gathers critical atmospheric data (including wind, pressure, and temperature) as well as oceanic data (such as wave conditions, water temperature, and currents).

The meteorological and oceanographic data recorded by these ocean-moored observatories and transmitted in real-time to data centers are vital for accurately forecasting ocean conditions, conducting studies on climate variability, and ensuring reliable weather predictions.
