MOBIMS Cala Millor

The Modular Beach Integral Monitoring System (MOBIMS) at Cala Millor Beach in Mallorca, managed by SOCIB, includes (i) biannual surveys of bathymetry and topography, (ii) a monitoring system with five cameras for bimonthly shoreline extraction, (iii) hourly measurements of waves and water depth, (iv) real-time meteorological data collection, and (v) annual sediment sampling for grain size analysis. The primary goal of this platform is to support the creation of a comprehensive dataset that documents beach evolution and hydrodynamic forces.

Additionally, the station is equipped with an Automatic Identification System (AIS) antenna, which provides real-time data on vessel identification, position, course, and speed.

Operated by SOCIB since May 2011, the Cala Millor coastal station also benefits from the support of the CM Castell de Mar hotel.
