MOBIMS Son Bou

SOCIB's Modular Beach Integral Monitoring System (MOBIMS) at Son Bou Beach (Menorca) includes (i) biannual surveys of bathymetry and topography, (ii) a 5-camera system for bimonthly shoreline mapping, (iii) hourly measurements of waves and water depth, (iv) real-time meteorological data collection, and (v) annual sediment sampling with grain size analysis. The primary aim of this platform is to facilitate the creation of a comprehensive dataset documenting beach evolution and hydrodynamic forces.

Additionally, the station is equipped with an Automatic Identification System (AIS) antenna, offering real-time data on vessel identification, position, course, and speed.

Operated by SOCIB since October 2011, the Son Bou platform receives support from the Sol Milanos-Pingüinos hotel.
