Porto Cristo Station
The primary goal of the station located in the port of Porto Cristo (Mallorca) is to provide sea level measurements. To accomplish this, the station is outfitted with two different types of sensors: a water pressure gauge and an atmospheric pressure sensor. Utilizing the hydrostatic equation, the combination of data from these sensors facilitates the calculation of the height of the water column above the water pressure sensor. Additionally, by referencing the sensor's position relative to the geoid, it is possible to derive absolute measurements of sea level.
The ITCS SOCIB reinstalled this station in 2016 and has been responsible for its management since then.
The station receives support from Ports IB.
