Sa Ràpita Station

Sea Level

The primary goal of the station installed in the port of Sa Rapita (Mallorca) is to provide sea level measurements. For this purpose, the station is equipped with both a water pressure gauge and an atmospheric pressure sensor. The combination of these two pieces of data, by utilizing the hydrostatic equation, enables the calculation of the height of the water column above the water pressure sensor. By referencing the sensor's position relative to the geoid, it is possible to achieve an absolute measurement of the sea level.

The ITCS SOCIB has been managing this station since 2010.

The station receives support from the Club Náutico la Ràpita.
