Beach Monitoring Facility micro-documentary released
A new micro-documentary on the SOCIB Beach Monitoring Facility has been released. This facility is a key coastal element of the multi-platform observing systems approach being implemented at SOCIB. After the gliders documentary (released September 11, 2012), and the Catamarán construction documentary (released October 26, 2012), this is the third of a series of six micro-documentaries describing the different facilities at SOCIB. The aim of the Marine and Terrestrial Beach Monitoring Facility is to contribute to the characterization and management, based on science and technology, of coastal systems by means of the Modular Beach Integral Monitoring System (MOBIMS). MOBIMS consists of a video-monitoring system, an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) and a program of repeated bathymetric and sediment beach monitoring.
