The scientific production of ICTS SOCIB consists of scientific articles in indexed journals. This is complemented by technical production, which ranges from operational reports to project deliverables, specific case studies, datasets, project proposals, and data management plans.
SOCIB, as a marine Unique Science and Technology Infrastructure (ICTS) and ocean observatory, centers its scientific research around three key themes:

Oceanic and Coastal Variability
SOCIB investigates the state and variability of the ocean at different spatial-temporal scales, with a multidisciplinary approach, as well as the role of the ocean in the climate

Climate Change and Ocean Health
SOCIB assesses the impact of climate change, extreme events, and other effects of human pressure on the coast and on the state and health of ecosystems and marine resources

Operational Oceanography
SOCIB focuses on the use of real-time metocean data, making predictions for applications, and decision-making in the marine and coastal domains

Aligned with the institutional commitment to Open Science, the scientific and technical production of the ICTS SOCIB is also available through the Digital.SOCIB Institutional Repository.

The topics addressed in the ICTS SOCIB publications connect with the scientific priorities of the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS): climate, ocean health, and real-time services. They are geographically focused on the Balearic Sea, the Ibiza Channel, the Gulf of Lion, the Alboran Sea, and the Algerian Basin.
